Given their propensity for selling variety packs, wherein 50% of the pack is shit, I drank this with as low of expectations as I usually do for Boston Beer Company. But, I'm happy to say this is the first offering from BBC that I've enjoyed in a long time.
In fact, I think I really like this! It drinks like a dunkel with cocoa powder, but it's also really light on body. The cocoa adds a little coating to your tongue with each sip, and while I personally love dark chocolate (any chocolate really), I still think typical beer drinkers can enjoy the hell out of this. I actually found myself wishing there were more left over from our last party. And the label is pretty rad too -- it makes me think of medieval brewers in Germania, or something like that.
I guess this makes up for their craptacular crapfest known as Summer Ale.
